Final Project
Mar.21 until May.6
At the beginning of semester 2, you started with a two dimensional image of an interior. You turned this image into 3 dimensions, back into 2d again, transformed it, turned it back into 3d again, and then back into 2d. Confused?
During this process, the interior you started with has started to change and grow. Like all interiors, and like all design, it has developed.
Now it is time to pin this interior down, in reality, of a sort.
In this project, you will develop your interior one last time, but this time through the medium of measured drawings, models, and images. So far, your interior has been the stuff of immeasurable dreams, but now, it is going to become concrete.
1 SURVEY: Make measured survey drawings of the space you have been given. These should be at 1:20 scale, using correct drawing conventions and lineweights, and should be presented as photocopies, pinned to the wall. Also provide a white card model of your space, also at 1:20 scale.
2 PROPOSE: Take the interior you have derived from your iterations of your original painting.
- What is the activity that is taking place in this interior?
- What is the atmosphere?
- Does this interior have any specific requirements: ergonomic? social? material?
Prepare measured drawings at 1:20 that show how you will bring your interior into the space that you have been given. Think hard about how you can modify this space to do what you want it to do.
4 MODEL: Now model your proposal, using the techniques you have learned to make it as tangible as possible. This model should be made at 1:20 scale, and should correspond as closely as possible to the drawings you have made.
5 IMAGINE: And finally, using the photoshop and image making skills you have acquired, provide 2 images of your space, one showing it by day, and another by night.
